When we realize that patterns don't exist in the universe, they are a template that we hold to the universe to make sense of it, it all makes a lot more sense.

Those shadow guys are pretty fit,
They don't get tired or sore.
When shadow boxers beat them up,
They bounce right back for more.

I like to make a box
    from corrugated card
    tags to make the locks,
but with gloves on, boxing's hard.

Many sanquine people hope, with cats,
    to find companionship but that's
    another way ignoring facts,
like cats are killing many birds,
and mammals too so its absurd
    to anthropomorphisise
    that creature, not even wise
but wild like a kitten's eyes
so while we manage all our spaces
do we model them on cat's faces
or do we yearn for cat free places?
    now dogs of course
    or noble horse
are useful and a good resource

I think of myself as a poet,
Though not everyone seems to know it.
    I make my lines rhyme
    Almost half the time,
And if a word short I'll just owe it.

They make the soup so hot here
I eat it with a fork,
    The diners often jeer here,
But it gives me time to talk.

    The main course follows later,
And now I have the room,
    Ignore the surly waiter,
    Attack it with the spoon.

    Something sweet should follow,
I've done that all my life,
A dish in which to wallow,
    But balanced on my knife.

And so to bed with coffee,
    Drink it through a straw,
    Throw clothes upon the bedsheets
    And settle in the drawer.

    After such a lengthy verse,
My rhymes seem to be quite terse.

    I got caught,
    Short,
    Once or twice,
    So long is nice,
    When?
    Now and again

You can have your magic beans Jack
    your children are hungry
and we need the cow back.

    The Lack of just terms
    and equitable or fair pacts
    expose all crooked beanstalks
    to concerted attacks.

Unless obsessive cycles are stopped in their tracks
our towns will again be as flat as tacks.

You have been too trusting Jack
    your childrens futures remain black
while current problems compound through lack.

    Struggle earnestly against the pack
    repudiate rights to depreciatingly retract
as giants fortress lie ripe for sack.

For only fair shares of the golden goose Jack
will save beanstalks and giants from the axe.

    but Ma! the stalk,
    is lovely to see,
    whenever I walk
    around it, Wowee!

    beauty is just
    as worthy as corn,
    we all may be bust
    but this thing is born.

    and, get me that chair,
    I think I could climb,
    just cos it's there,
    the view should be sublime.

    you just want to eat,
    you're backed to the ropes,
    but I want to beat
    we need to have hopes.

    And this thing can grow,
    it may be small now
    but how do you know
    I won't find a cow?

    A whole load of stuff
    if that's what you want,
    there's never enough
    this might be the font,

yes the font of good things,
    that what's its name horn,
    sell off your rings
    the future's just born.

    A giant you say?
    a wonderful bird?
    lays gold eggs all day,
    why that is absurd.

    We need this high plant
    to see far away,
    to predict? Well I can't
    but you'll see one day.

(jack disappears into the clouds, more next week)

    If the beans
    I sold to Jack
    Really work
    I want them back.

But planted right they give me visions!

    I guess it's best
    'cause it seems now
    that I can sell
    his magic cow.

    Jack, radially superior now
is pining for his erstwhile cow,
it shows we really don't know how
    to satisfy our fevered brow.

the more we seek, the more we fret
that we have not enough stuff yet
the hill of beans on which we bet,
is stalking us, so stalks we'll get.

this is for my french speaking friends:

    La sagesse de l'Hippopotame No6

Je repose le pluparte submergé par boue,
Comme un berceau de boue, comme une bouée,
Quand il fait chaud, je reste cool,
Boue sur mon joue, je joue avec mes poux.

    La sagesse de l'Hippopotame No11

Quand je pense philosophiquement de la boue,
C'est comme le monde fait tous mes gouts,
    Et comme moi c'est suspendu,
Entre les étoiles fixés mais porté aux nues.

comes the new year, a few days away,
    0000011111100010 in binary, hey
why in 16 bit when less would do,
    but it's the pattern, it's a clue
AI would know, there's time to stew,
no rush, binary not geography is destiny now,
we byte the dust and scatter seed,
the dust is conscious, pay me heed,
dust unto dust and dust into mind
is this the year we're left behind?
Or shall we mess about some more?
do more damage, watch our shore
    retreating as we mindless pour
    our excess but lets pause....
tis the season to be merry, open doors
    to strangers, celebrate our cause.
Happy new year and all it brings
I wish you air beneath your wings.
