    Season joy!

To all who celebrate it, Merry Christmas! To those who do not, I wish you peace and joy!

You don't have to be a believer to enjoy the season, either. Getting together with family is lovely. At least for me, I understand some have problems with that.

Some years ago, I had a doctor wish me a "joyous festival season." This remains my favourite phrasing.

I hope in this time of seasonality we all festivate joyly.

When we realize that patterns don't exist in the universe, they are a template that we hold to the universe to make sense of it, it all makes a lot more sense.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyful Diwali, Cheerful Solstice, etc.

Actually they can't: "Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible." - Lord Kelvin, president, Royal Society, 1895.

Here's a kind of oxymoron image I fabricated in LAX, during a long layover while returning from Easter Island recently (click to enlarge).

Oh, and it is also the 1197th anniversary of Leo V's sentencing of Michael II to death via the baboon furnace. Michael II would then conspire with others to have Leo V assassinated on Christmas Day. 25 Dec really is 31 Oct.

    Car is already packed.
I got a lot more than normal sleep for Christmas Eve, waiting for someone to catch up in that department.
Might take one of the latest star Wars movies into my sisters and watch it with my nieces.
Might even go to my moms friends place turkey dinner this evening,

"In 1997 the Empire outlawed diarrhea, thus curing the rampant dysentery epidemic. All offenders were sent to the baboon furnace."

    Merry Christmas to all.

The celebration is delayed for me this year. I have one child coming home, but it'll be late in the afternoon, and I first have to travel 100 km to pick her up when she's done work.

ETA: Oh, and thanks Solfe, for bringing back this thread.
