Thread: A New Website name

    A New Website name

Thinking of building a new website, actually a lot of it is done but I may not be the best of naming things. So I am trying to get some input on the name.

What's the site's defining characteristic? That it's for people in the Backwoods? That you're cranky, but cool? That you are near the Bay of Fundy? If you're not really cranky (or the crankiness doesn't enhance the information), I'd scrap that. If you're not at least periodically relating your astronomy to the Bay of Fundy, I'd scrap that. If you're not really focused on astronomy in the backwoods/fields, then those makes no sense either. What's the unique take on astronomy that you want your website to convey?

One of counties borders is the Bay of Fundy and I happen to travel the backroads around there, also the might pictures of the area, cranky was just a last minute choice. I do have a story that does relate to the super moon, marker buoys and a accident with a ferry.

Which means now I have to tell the tale.

The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides on Earth but they were higher due to the Super moon at the end of last month. This moved a couple of channel markers for a passage a ferry makes on route to an island. A week ago Sunday a ferry went out empty except for the crew and hit a rock and eventually tore off the rear drive. While trying to get off the rock they tore off the front drive and did not get off the rock. Well my BIL is tug boat captain for an aquaculture firm that operates out there and was called to tug the boat to Saint John. He could not do this because his boat couldn't get close to ferry. Eventually they had call in tug from Saint John to came and get it.
The BiL a couple of years ago has captaining a relief ferry in the same area and scrap one of the rocks there. A couple of days later another Captain asked if that was paint on the rock and he said,"yep."

Is this a community forum site, or a blog?

The titles given sound a lot like a one person blog.

What's the weirdest name of a town were you live?

The Antigonish Astronomer sounds weird, but of course, you're nowhere near Antigonish.
