    Some really big news!!!!

My family have decided to sell all the land and move into an apartment in town. Me to give up things like astronomy and gardening and give away all my science fiction novels and astronomy books. I am going close down my all my internet accounts like here, twitter, and facebook. I will give up drinking coke and start drinking booze and hanging out at bars and if haven't guessed it already APRIL FOOLS.

Speaking of big news, I understand that the EU Parliament voted today to switch to metric time. The year will now be divided into 10 months of 100 days each. Each day will be 10 hours long and each hour will be 100 minutes. There will be 100 seconds in a minute.

The length of the second will be adjusted accordingly, so that the metric year will match the solar year.

The official announcement can be found on the EU webpage HERE.

Appropriate changes will be made to speed limits, music, and dog whistles. Oscilloscopes? Oh, when was the last time you used an oscilloscope?

Yep, we knew that once they started selling a lot of those metric crescent wrenches, they would do more and more, cm by cm.

There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.

And the new names are year, deciyear, milliyear and microyear, scientists can use nanoyear and smaller. It’s logical.

When we realize that patterns don't exist in the universe, they are a template that we hold to the universe to make sense of it, it all makes a lot more sense.

Thew USA had a go with the Dime which uses Napoleon's ten fixation but was set as 0.705 inches. Fortunately that is close to 18 mm (17.91 mm) The old UK half penny was used as a one inch reference for a century and look where that got us.
