I am not particularly good with colored pencils. I gave it another shot in just ink. I was working with a new pen, so I went a little wild with the lines.

I had a few minutes to doodle today. Watercolors and magic marker.

I love this painting. I've had a whole new appreciation for big cats since reading The Tiger by John Vaillant earlier this year.

I painted A LOT of watercolors when I was living in Japan. Lots of bamboo, lol. I decided to get a booth at our upcoming local street fair and see if I could sell any of these! Turned into a big project! I framed several and matted and bagged (in cellophane) a few dozen others. I think I'll be pricing them way low to clear them out! Should be interesting. Anybody else done an art fair, flea market, anything similar?

Those are lovely. I love that Japanese style of art.

Thanks, guys. Unlike "Chinese brush painting" that just uses ink, I started using the style as a vehicle for color. Some attempts got a bit more abstract than others....

I'm always impressed with a pretty water-color. It's a medium that I've never been able to even remotely grasp, myself.

I reworked the image of the mermaid girl. Here is the original from the last page.

I wanted to add some delicate color in markers. I snapped a picture of it,

...but then dropped my marker on the sheet.

Next attempt is coming soon. I wish to heck i knew what these images were from. I thought they were from the Camelot movie poster, but no. Then I thought they were from a series of books from the 60's and 70's. No, again. I even compared them to the mermaid characters in Peter Pan. No dice.

It's really driving me nuts to see these characters, know that they are from something and can't figure it out. The likeness isn't close enough to the original for a reverse image lookup.
