All I had was a .05, .1 and .3 pen and sheet of paper picked out the recycle bin. A sharpie would have been better.

Cave art horse. I think I want to revisit this one. I cranked it out this afternoon and while it was enjoyable, I was expecting a different outcome.

Indeed. The first Homeworld is still my number one reference for texture detail (despite being from 1999), besides being a a big source of inspiration in general. Peter Elson, Chris Foss and others filter through there.

Yup, Blender, specifically Cycles for rendering. This is the second one I've textured for Cycles so I had a little more of a clue as to what I was doing than last time.

I've come to the conclusion that colored markers are not for me. Even the fine markers seem like applying color with a fire hose. I can't seem to figure them out. They don't slide like a brush and won't grab like a pencil or ink pen. Sometimes it seems like every hue gets muddy or too dark. Weird stuff.

    Anyone have any tips?

I decided to give the digital tools a break. Some rough pencil studies on Strathmore sketch paper.

Thanks all for taking the time to comment. I'm glad to see the art thread still kicking. I'm also glad to see you all still kicking. I wonder if Jokergirl is still around.

Seems I seldom draw much for simple fun anymore. Paradoxical. When what you love turns into your job you just don't love it as much anymore. It all seems like work and you over analyze it or just avoid it.

Oh yes....roller derby. I figure maybe five minutes after lacing up the skates before they would have to call me an ambulance.
