Temp in crawl space dipped to 28F but the water was flowing. The end is near, more seasonal temps in 24 hours. After 2 snows and an arctic cold wave I'm ready for Spring now. The 5" of snow is 4" now, via sublimation, it's still powder after 3 days here, that's rare here.

Two inches of rain in less than 24 hours.

Locally in may have been more.

My garbage was emptied at seven this morning and the trashmen didn't put the lid back on. I measured five inches of water in the bottom, and the can sat under my balcony!

Back in Chicago, the people would always say "Two inches a' rain! We're lucky ... woulda been two feet of snow!"

They assumed that 12.000 was the Snow Constant or something like that.

The ground here is now mushy compared to last week's concrete. Temps returning to winter norms though it'll be warmer and near 70F tomorrow with possible thunderstorms. Just a brief break from the next artic blast starting this weekend. At least the fire ants, killer bees, and malaria are held off for another year. ;-)

Yesterday was just under 37 C (98 C) and today was 38 C (100 F). We had ash falling on the house from a bushfire (wildfire) in the hills to the east of Perth - so far it has been burning in forest land and hopefully will not develop further.

Tomorrow we are expecting stormy rain courtesy of a former Tropical Cyclone in the north of the state.

About -10 C. Was going to go down and check the pond and stream but there are three deer in the field between here and there munching on some grass,

Settling in for the next/present arctic blast, a high of 28F today. We did get ~1.5" rain so it's not as dry now, more like freeze dried. Snow may be coming again in 3 days? That 70F a few days ago was nice, pruned several fruit trees. Can sense the sun time increasing a tiny bit, the cold makes it hard to notice.

Got 20 F, a dusting of snow overnight, wind 5kts, skies grey .

  26. #5936
About -6 C, really really slept in had to get the wood stoves going again, put the insert with the turkey stew in the slow cooker and now have to get some wood in.
The rain did some damage throughout the province closing a few bridges, probably most of which are on back roads.

Wow - the weather really changed here. After the 38C & bushfires on Sunday the tail-end of the tropical cyclone hit on Monday. The temperature barely reached 26C, 3.30am, and dropped to around 20C for the rest of the day with continual heavy rain. We got 96 mm (about 4 inches) in 24 hours,. That is equal to the normal rainfall for December to March (inclusive) combined.

Luckily, Perth is basically built on beach sand so except for a few roads with blocked drains there was no flooding. However a branch from the verge tree (council owned) fell and broke a few panels on my fence. They will remove the branch tomorrow & I have to claim for the fence repairs.

While most of the USA is frigid, our area had a record high temperature yesterday at over 60F.
