nice the community and its members are here..
one thing that strikes me right off the bat and makes this forum a nice neighborhood is the unwillingness for members to critique spelling.

the banter back and forth is very entertaining...

the only issue i can see is an apparent lack of sarcasm.. i would speculate that this due to only the inability for scarsam to be conveyed through text only...

even through differences, most members seem quite civil..

cheers and happy snow shoveling in dc and nova.!

Wow, if I had a dollar for every time someone complained about our lack of sarcasm..... :hand:

:D

I'm glad you like this place sabianq, we do too. Being nice is one of our primary rules.

I'm just amused that the statement popped up on a day where I did.

Lack of sarcasm? Why is lack of sarcasm wrong, and how can you say that while I post here?

Shouldn't that be NoVa?

SolusLupus

I dunno. I'm not familiar with that word.

ToSeek

Common abbreviation (at least in this area) for Northern Virginia.

Oh.

I haven't heard it before.

NoVA might better, but I've seen NoCal/SoCal (North/South California) more often so I left the a lowercase.

I'm just wondering, but was it deliberate that you mentioned spelling but then spelled a word wrong in the thread title?

sabianq

hi jens,
actually no,
here is a sample of my predeited diatribe.
so actully ironicaly no, it wasnt deliberate, i am a terrible speller and my fingers trip over them selves at i type and my keyboard sticks and and...
i have lota excuses..
regardless, i ..i have to use a speel checker...
and sometime i even stump the spell checker..

but i gota say, it is pretty good
i use the microsofe one from IE..
and i think it is better than firefoxes version,
although i really like the red underlined worsd in firefox...

so i really really in all ernesty meant this post 100%

pleas dont make to much fun of me..
thanks

oh yea, i usually ignoe capital letters and i never never type (onpurpose) in all caps..

since i am a fasxt hunter and peck kindaguy, i can type out a whole paragraph before i notice the caplock is on..

i do it at work too...
it can be annoying. but i did find out how to change it in word..

sabianq

my wife screams on the keyboard
i swear she can hit 160~180 words and have a direct eye to eye conversation with you as she types something completly unrealted..
it is very apparent she has spent way longer typin than me..
and most every other person i have known.

althought i do know a stenographer who works at the department of justice.
her and her little machine can pound out and record a 285 word per min dictation for 50 min with a 99.9% accuracy.

but that aint typin.. lol

But ... (to quote my favorite film) does she know "what it smells like in the Sistine Chapel"? ;)

I think y'all missed the sarcasm in the original post. I don't think he/she is really complementing anything, he is being sarcastic.

Nicely done, imo, it slipped right by everyone like a whale on a slip and slide. :)

nope.
truly serious post.
i am not that good at conveying sarcasm... at all.
that is the one really nice thing about the community here.
over all, typos and misspellings are forgiven far more often here than on other boards...

i posted a real un checked sample of my pre-edit type above..
it usually takes me a couple of edits before i am comfortable with publish...

then i usually always find errors after i post it.
i am really good at seeing misspellings and typos.
i let ones slide that look obvious..
and i try to be aware of different words like whether and weather..

this forum is nice in a way as ideas are looked at closer than the type...

Misspellings that change the meaning of what's said and misspelled names will get mention though.

While it wasn't me, it would have been. We just have a blanket rule about potentially copyrighted material being hot-linked.

Knowing this rule, you can still make some reely (http://www.storesonline.com/members/...n-fly-reel.jpg) funny jokes, with a hidden punchline.

Ooh, clever! Click the link and you receive a warning! Reel subtle moderating, that is! :)
