View Full Version : magnetic fields in the galactic halo

The authors propose that magnetic fields in a dwarf starburst galaxy help supernovae contribute matter to the halo and that dwarf galaxies may play an important role in magnetizing the interstellar medium.See:http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/arxiv/pdf/1002/1002.2375v1.pdf

In view of the recent paper ....SEE:http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2010arXiv1001.4793S indicating that the most persistent grains surviving sputtering in supernovae shocks are predominantly iron, that ought to lead to a cold diffuse halo emitting mostly in microwaves, from iron needles aligned along the galactic field. Curiously, our galaxy looks a bit like that. pete
