Sometimes I just spontaneously think of parodies. This morning in the shower was one of those times. I dried off, wrote it down, did a little editing, and came up with this, to the tune of Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69":

Summer of '69 (Apollo)

I saw my first real F-1
Straight off the assembly line
Lookin’ at it nearly blew my head
It was the summer of ’69!

Me and some guys I knew
Had a band and we worked real hard
‘Till we quit and people stopped caring
Never knew we’d never get far

Oh, when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, you know I’d wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life

“Ain’t no use in complainin’
When you got a job to do”
Spent my late nights down at the launchpad
Talkin’ with the mission crew, yeah!

Standin’ by the crawler porch
We were thinking ‘bout forever
Oh, ‘cause JFK’d said
That it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life, oh yeah
Back in the summer of ‘69

Man, they never wasted time
It was bold and reckless
No one needed any more
I guess nothin’ can last forever- forever, no, yeah!

And now the times are changin’
And S-T-S is nearly gone
Sometimes I look at that old F-1
Think about it and ‘bout what went wrong,

Standin’ on the LM porch
Starin’ out into forever
Oh, and Neil was sayin’
“Hurry up it’s now or never!”
Those were the best days of my life, oh yeah
Back in the summer of ‘69, uh-huh
It was the summer of ‘69, oh yeah, baby, July of ‘69
It was the summer, the summer of ‘69

Thank you, but sadly I have neither musical talent nor recording equipment.

Best days of my life? Let's see, summer after first grade, I was...

Water skiing! Playing at the lake. Riding my bicycle.

Oh, and watching the live broadcast of the first Lunar landing.

I guess they really were the best days of my life. :)

NP. I can do you the backing track and all you have to do is sing into a simple PC microphone and record it (don't worry to much about the quality). Then send me the file of your voice recording and we have a track.

Fancy it ?

Tell you what, let me do the backing track, give me a day or so to post it. Then decide. :)

Okay, I think I'll wait to hear your version, you probably have a better singing voice than I do.

Oh wooo.

No way am I going to sing, that's your job, it's your song. I'll do the backing track for you. Send it to you and you listen to it and just sing along. Record your voice using anything really without recording the backing track. You can even use a headset mic and simple windows record.

Send me your recorded voice file and then I will mix it with the backing track, you have your own top 10 hit :)

Sorry, I misunderstood. But as I said when first asked, I don't have any microphones or anything that go with my computer and I'm not a good singer.

A headset microphone will do. Go for it, don't worry. Let me do the backing track first and then decide.

Here you go mate, it doesn't take long when your working with midi files. Not perfect by any means but I can change it for your voice.

I decided on an acoustic version, Bryan Adams Unplugged. :)

Well, to be honest I just prefer acoustic guitars. Going to record your self ??

Very well done. The acoustic takes a few moments to get used to when one's only heard the other version, but you did it very well.
