Yesterday afternoon I took and passed my Comprehensive Qualifier! I am now a PhD candidate and ABD. This is such a great feeling!

thanks guys. FYI, I study the northern ice cap on Mars, especially the large spiral troughs and their link to past climates.

That's excellent. Congratulations. So how's the "D" in ABD coming along?

It was pretty intense. I was nervous all day, and starting the exam at 4PM didn't help at all. The good news is that I was well prepared, and once things started, they went very smoothly. The questions were relevant, which was nice, since they could have asked me anything related to Geology, not just my project.


The D is on it's way. My first publication will come out this spring. I'll announce it when it is published. The next two are formative right now, but I know what they will be. And that gets us to the D. We're hoping for 2 more years.
