The Iditarod (http://www.iditarod.com/) sled dog race is about half over and my two favorite mushers, Jeff King (http://www.iditarod.com/race/race/musher/racemusher_59.html) and Lance Mackey (http://www.iditarod.com/race/race/musher/racemusher_77.html) are in Ruby. I'm pulling for Lance again this year.

If anyone wishes to check on race progress every now and then, IonEarth hosts the 2010 Iditarod Sled Dog Race GPS Tracking page (http://www.ionearth.com/2010/iditarod/web/). GPS units worn by the mushers feed position data to the map every 15 minutes.

One of these days, I've got to be in Nome for the finish. One of these days...

Cool. I didn't realize they were that spread out over the course, well over 100 miles.

I met Jeff King when my wife and I visited Alaska in 1999. At least at the time he had a ranch near Denali and you could visit it (for a modest fee). They actually demoed some practice runs with wheeled carts (it was early September) and at the end they pass out puppies you could hold and have pictures taken with. It was a lot of fun.
