These (http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2010/27apr10_plasmarain/) are quite remarkable time-lapse shots of the Sun during a large eruption.

The impetus for this eruption seems (to me) to be visible -- a single, vertical 'pillar' that comes plowing out of the Sun. It's not coded hot, though, or....

...a single, vertical 'pillar'...

Well, two dark 'tree trunks' that grow and merge, then come plowing out of the Sun.

Wow, so much detail! And it reminds me of something out of Raiders of the Lost Ark :).

That is amazing and beautiful.
Hopefully the 'hair' that appears stuck on the camera isn't permanent? i.e., did somebody drop an eyebrow into the spacecraft's camera before launch? If so, any way to get rid of it, or just hope if floats away?
