The authors find that the extinction of optical light by dust varies with redshift in a surprising way, inferring a doubling of ancient star formation rates. SEE:http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/arxiv/pdf/1006/1006.4463v1.pdf pete

Could you do at least some readers a favour, and make your links to the abstract, not the PDF file please pete?

Not everyone has the luxury of a high bandwidth internet connection, nor a PC which can load PDF files quickly and easily into a browser window.

The paper is "The extinction law at high redshift and its implications", and its abstract is here (http://arxiv.org/abs/1006.4463). The paper has 104 references, several of which are well worth reading (Gallerani et al.'s conclusions are not necessarily the same as those of the researchers whose papers they cite).
