What color are their names going to be at the bottom of the forum page?

I've been dying to find out and Gillian just isn't posting fast enough...:D

Mmm. That debate's been raging for years. It's evenly split between fuchsia and plaid.

So they will go to plaid.

I vote plaid, and I think I'm one of the non-mods with the biggest stake in it.

I, for one, will welcome our new Myriapod overlords.

Oh, sorry, I misread the title. As you were, folks.

It seems that 'plait' is a corruption of plaid. So, I vote for plaid, to honor one of our hosts.

If we go to plaid no dead man can get that title.

Isn't posting after death a banning offense?

Nah, it's not a problem if you let the mod team know about it before it becomes an issue. I can't get into details about who, how many, or how regular they are, of course, but we have had some number of zombies and lichs as members. A few years ago, we even had an old school vampire.

So they will go to plaid.

Makes sense, as it requires posting at ludicrous speed.

Oh, my bad. This is referring to "myriad"? Which might be defined as 10,000? I was thinking of "mega," duh. Okay, not so ludicrous.

"Myria-" is an obsolete pre-SI prefix for 104.

It was never very commonly used AFAIK, altho in Scandinavia a "metric mile" (Sw/Nw mil) is commonly used unit equal to a myriameter (but never called that).

Incidentally, it's completely unknown in Denmark except as something used by the Swedish. :)

Now you know what I'm going to be doing with my free time. Oops, wrong thread.

Weird. You'd think that'd be closer to a "metric bileague".
Not that weird: the customary mile was ~11 km in pre-metric Scandinavia (slightly longer in Norway than in Sweden).

I think at Myriapi the software should auto-register the user at a singles forum.

Isn't one of the first ones there going to be ToSeek who is already married.

Actually, quite a lot of people in the running are in relationships.

Not after they get registered at the singles' site.

It would have to be a very special kind of singles' site to attract the kind of people who would post over 30,000 times here.

Quality not quantity.

Not that weird: the customary mile was ~11 km in pre-metric Scandinavia (slightly longer in Norway than in Sweden).
And somewhat less in Denmark, our mile was 7.53248 km.

Which incidentally was well used by the translator of LotR, to make the Aragorn et. al.'s "40 leagues" journey be translated to one of "30 mil", only 1.6% different.

Maybe we should start our own. ;)

I suspect your wife and Graham would probably both be pretty annoyed, all things considered.

*snicker* Opening a store doesn't necessarily mean shopping in it.

We could call it monopoles.com.

Depends on the guy.

Will anybody make myriapi before the end of this particular piece of the universe?

Assuming a constant posts per day, ToSeek, who I believe to be the front runner, should hit myriapi in early 2012.

So just which date was the world supposed to end again? :p
