Wasn't me, but someone had some nice equipment at the trailhead to Telescope Peak in Death Valley last week. The campsite is at about 8,000 ft with no light pollution.

Very nice! Last summer I had the opportunity to bring my scope to Great Basin National Park. Most transparent skies I've ever observed under by far--9000ft elevation and one of the darkest locations in the US.
