Here's an exercise with movie titles. When a year (more or less) appears in a film title, compute the discrepancy between it and the release year.

One Million Years B.C. (1966) . . . -1,001,966
One Million B.C. (1940) . . . -1,001,940
A.D. [presumably 1](1985) . . . -1,984
64 A.D. (1964) . . . -1,900
79 A.D. (1962) . . . -1,883
1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992) . . . -500
1776 (1972) . . . -196
1814 (1988) . . . -174
1900 (1976) . . . -76
1941 (1979) . . . -38
Gold Diggers of 1935 (1935) et al. . . . 0
The Big Broadcast of 1938 (1938)et al. . . . 0
1984 (1984) . . . 0
Dracula AD 1972 (1972) . . . 0
Panic in Year Zero (1958) . . . 0 [by definition]
Godzilla 2000 (1999) . . . +1
Blues Brothers 2000 (1998) . . . +2
2012 (2009) . . . +3
Frankenstein 1970(1958) . . . +12
2010 (1984) . . . +26
1984 (1956) . . . +28
2001: A Space Odyssey (1969) . . . +32
Summer of '42 (1971) . . . +29
Class of '44 (1973) . . . +29
Terror from the Year 5000 (1958) . . . +3,042

Lots of Science Fiction titles, of course, and quite a large range.
Can you add any more? No fair using The Neverending Story, or things with Forever and Eternity in them. Or, go ahead and do it anyway.

By the way, 20th Century Fox dates back to 1935. If that name implies 1901, they were -34 then and are -109 now.

(If someone can convert that into a decent table, go ahead. I tried and gave up.)

'Cause I'm bored:

Class of 1999 (1990) = +9

10,000 bc (2008) = -12,007

I don't know why "BC" appears in lower case above. Something screwy with the forum.

It was the only letters in your post.

Summer of '42 (1971) . . . +29
Class of '44 (1973) . . . +29
Shouldn't these be -29?

I think you're right. Someone added them to my original list in another foprum years ago, and I just added them without proper validation.

Note that another remake of One Million B.C. will move at once to the top (or bottom) of the list.

Not a movie, but more entertaining than most... :)

2112 by Rush, (1976) = +136

Year One (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1045778/) 2009, = -2008

FYI, your first two are off by a year, but SkepticJ's addition is correct (there was no year 0).

1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992) = -500
1776 (1972) = -196
Dracula 2000 (2000) = 0
The Concorde ... Airport '79 (1979) = 0
Airport '77 (1977) = 0
Airport 1975 (1974) = +1
2001: A Space Travesty (2000) = +1

If we can include TV shows, then:

Space: 1999 (1975) = +24

:)

You're right, I should have corrected for no year zero.
There will be a lot of +1, as they often choose next year so the film won't be outdated at once. Sometimes they round up to the next 0 or 00.
