I was looking through the Messier45 database for candidate photo subjects, and came across a planetary neb named "Ba 1". A further search on "Ba" showed several objects attributed to "Ba". Who, or what is "Ba"?

Some googling gave me this PDF: ASTRONOMICAL CATALOGUE DESIGNATIONS (http://www.astrohandbook.com/ch19/catalog_desig.pdf)

At first glance it seems to list Baade for Ba. And wiki delivers: people with surname Baade: Walter Baade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Baade).

I have no way of knowing if it's the correct answer, but it smells good. :)

Walter Baader would seem to be a good answer. Thanks
