What is the status of these two missions?
I only know that they were both supposed to be launched in 2006 and that Kepler would look for extra-solar Earthlike planets and that Dawn would orbit two asteroids.
Any idea what's up with those?

Kepler is in progress (http://www.kepler.arc.nasa.gov/)

So is Dawn (http://www-ssc.igpp.ucla.edu/dawn/news.html)

I went to the Extrasolar Humor section at the Kelper site and got this:

Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are going camping. They pitch their tent under the stars and go to sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night Holmes wakee Watson up.

"Watson, look up at the stars, and tell me what you deduce."

Watson says, "I see millions of stars, and if there are millions of stars, and if even a few of those have planets, itís quite likely there are some planets like Earth, and if there are a few planets like Earth out there, there might also be life."

Holmes replied: "Watson, you idiot, somebody stole our tent!"

When you mentioned them, I was thinking that I hadn't heard much news, either. I am also glad to hear that they are underway. I'll be particularly interested in Kepler's findings.
