View Full Version : Bad science: Moody Institute of Science and Irwin Moon

Ok, I have posted a number of fun science videos. But here are a couple of frighteningly bad ones. Irwin Moon founded the Moody Institute of Science to teach "science" with a helping of how god made it that way. And Irwin Moon is really good at what he is doing. He normally does not harp on the whole "god did this" idea, but just says as just part of the lesson. The sad part is these things were shown in schools.

Carnivorous Plants (http://www.archive.org/details/carnivorous_plants) (if you are a fan of RiffTrax, you may have seen this one)
Fish Family (http://www.archive.org/details/fish_family)
Living With the Atom (http://www.archive.org/details/living_with_the_atom)
Electric Eel (http://www.archive.org/details/electric_eel)

With out Irwin Moon, but still with Moody films.
Wonders of Our Body (http://www.archive.org/details/wonder_of_our_body)
Wonders of Water (http://www.archive.org/details/wonder_of_water)

Note: unlike youtube acvhive.org has some films that may not be suitable for all audiences. So if you go searching around watch out.

Some of that early videography is simply amazing: Can you image how many cans of film it took to put these time-lapse stories together?

I saw one in school in ~ 1962 that was video of a human zygote development. When the gills slits showed up; and then vanished, it was an ah - ha moment for me: We really did evolve from fishies!
