View Full Version : Fram Crater?

The latest update for Opportunity says the rover is heading for "Fram Crater" Where could that be, there are very few craters between its present location and Endurance.

The only crater I can see of any appreciable size is slightly more than half way between its present location at the end of the fault "Anatolia" and Endurance crater.

Its visible in the image below and has a bright white rim similar to "Eagle Crater" but is perhaps less than half its size.

If I had to guess, I'd say the small crater almost due east of Anatolia and northwest of Endurance, about 2/3 of the way from Eagle to Endurance.

Could this be Fram Crater? It's surrounded by debris

I was thinking the same thing.

P.S. Would you mind changing that to a smaller photo? If you don't, all the text in future messages is going to scroll off the right-hand side of the screen.

This press release page (http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/press/opportunity/20040416a.html) seems to indicate that we were right about which of the craters is Fram.
