Look at this Navcam image (http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/1/n/082/1N135474585EFF1200P1981L0M1.JPG) and this one (http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/1/n/082/1N135474534EFF1200P1981L0M1.JPG)- definitely looks like we have some interesting outcrop to look at.

Indeed, Opportunity drove (http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status.html#opportunity) 140 meters closer yesterday (17th April). It will visit the small crater visible in upper center of the Pancam image. Some outcropping seems to be excavated there too along with some outflung rocks.

BTW, Opportunity's backshell is visible in the Navcam image to the right of the crater.

Very interesting indeed. In those images, the outcropping looks almost like waves on a sea.... Especially the big "crest" at the upper left in the first image and the upper right in the second.

Nitpick: It's the heatshield. (http://www.msss.com/mars_images/moc/2004/02/09/02_R1400021subanot_i.gif) The backshell and parachute (http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/press/opportunity/20040209a/Descent_Stage-B016R1_br.jpg) are to the southwest of the original crater and therefore behind Opportunity now.

Oops, you're right... I mistook dark spot right to the heatshield as the parachute. Impact spot perhaps?
