Penrose claims to have found features (sigma=6) in the WMAP data that point to a cyclic model.

Well, that's interesting. Unfortunately, the pdf version crashes my Adobe viewer....

Iíve attached a YouTube video of a talk that Roger Penrose gave about this model at Coventry University last December.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OutKE3tyG94&feature=related

The video is an hour and 15 minutes long. If you do watch the video you will find that the first 5 or 6 minutes the audio is terrible. When Penrose starts talking the volume does go up a bit. Also, the first hour Penrose lays the ground work and the last 15 minutes he talks about the Cyclic Model.

Update on the cyclic model saga here (http://physicsworld.com/blog/2010/12/_by_james_dacey_roger.html), with some links to papers countering the claim and an answer from Penrose to those objections.

Interesting stuff. Penrose might be out on a limb, but I wouldn't mind claiming something that if nature ends up siding with, I get the Nobel!
