Ok, so I'm working on a project for my celestial mechanics class. the idea is to pick a planet, get a list of mean orbital elements, and then calculate the position and velocity vectors of the planet. I can do this part all right, it's the second part of the project that's getting me a bit. Using the F and G functions, find new position and velocity vectors and any chosen time t on the orbit (i.e., I can say 10 days later, or however long I want). Then, using the new state vectors, recompute the orbital elements. I think I know what to do, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had to do a similar project and can maybe help out a bit. I don't want answers (even if I did, I didn't give you any numbers), just a kick in the right direction.
