Christie's East in NYC is going to auction several space related items next month. One of the items is a set of patches from the suit James Irwin wore on the lunar surface during Apollo 15. These patches still have some actual lunar dust particles in them! In addition, they will also auction a traverse map used by Charles Duke on Apollo 16 which is also covered with moon dust.

The value of the patches is estimated at $250,000 to $350,000 and the map's value is estimated at $80,000 to $120,000. Since the HB's have been known to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on research, it should be no problem for one of them to obtain these items and have them analyzed.

If you're interested in the auction, here's the URL:

But this dust was manufactured in ovens at NASA. No need to buy it when they could just pocket the money, uh, I mean use it on more cost effective on other research.

Yes, I mean just look at it - it's gray. I've got gray dust in my living room. Doesn't prove a thing.

Na...the dust is not from ovens, its ash from big wood burning factories...no kidding , someone posted that recently on another forum. I have to wonder is it pine or oak?

Are you serious? It would be so easy to tell that the dust was from the burning of organic materials.
