When Triton enters Neptune's Roche zone, how will it break up? Centuries of escallating tritonquakes opening cracks and volcanoes until the whole moon bursts like Superman's Krypton? A sudden explosion, like a bubble popping? Layers of rock and ice gradually wafting off the moon? Splitting like an ameba, then each half splitting, etc.? Or something else?

I'm not sure how long it will be before this happens. Will the Sun already be a cooling white dwarf? In any case, I think you will see behavior like an exaggerated Io. Lots of vulcanism as the surface liquefies, and eventually expand propeller-shaped into a dense ring.

if I read it correctly, says it is a toss-up between 1.4 Billion AD and 3.6 billion AD.

Presumably there will be some interactions with the inner moons as Triton gets closer to Neptune.
