Anybody got any more info on Celestron's new scope?
List price?
Ship date?
Smaller versions to come?

I want one, but fear it will forever be out of my reach.

It seems the C20 is geared toward well-off amateurs and observatories, and I'm guessing it's going to run $20,000-$30,000. It ships the fourth quarter this year.

The C20 is designed to sit in a permanent observatory... good thing too, since you probably will be taking a bus if you buy this thing! :)

I'm planning on a permanent installation. I have four acres (1.6 hectares), 50 Km east of Austin, Tx, with fairly dark skies (not clear as often as I would like, but dark). Maybe, I will win the lottery!

If you do secure a 'scope like that, don't forget your neighbors who would gladly bring over some brisket and Elgin sausage and the like to distract you while they comandeer the eyepiece. :D

According to the Astronomics Web Site (http://www.astronomics.com/main/product.asp?catalog_name=Astronomics&category_name =TNKM1C1BBENG8JUHDPK2CBKV75&product_id=C20PORT) the C20 will go for $39,900.

Save those pennies...I'll be over after it is installed :)

Okay while we are day dreaming here, was looking at the Takahashi refractors.

Now a 6 inch is $15,000

But the 8 inch is $167,000

Why the big jump for two inches. Is there some engineering issue once you go over the 6 inch lens.

Really just curious
