That's within less then one third of geosynchronous orbit. That's practically close enough to leave scorch marks!

But please calm the emotive hype...

A object of a size not unlike a motor home that even if it were to be on a intercept path might not have survived to the impact..

Breaking up and being vaporised. Burning to dust, or falling harmlessly to earth..

Now before you all get angry and throw the toys out of the cot..telling me of doomsday events.. Size and composition are very important factors when wanting to extrapolate the outcome of impacting objects.

Who is doing that? All I did was post a nicely done animated video that was posted over on the UMSF site...
