borman. Interesting. I'll search for the paper. Recently, Marc Kamionkowski, Caltech cosmologist gave a talk at MIT that I happened to catch. For the first time in ~25 years, I waited post-talk to query the speaker... about the observed ~ 10% hemispherical power asymmetry in WMAP readings...a puzzle. As usual, I'm thinking that the BB was slightly asymmetrical with a parity effect showing, yielding an axial symmetry but a polar asymmetry which eventually manifests itself in the observed power spectrum. He liked the idea...this makes it even more likeable. pete

Well yes. If you use a different methodology on such an indirect measurement, you'll likely get a different result.
