The authors examine 61 nearby type 1a's and find that there is a correlation between the rise time to maximum luminosity and then the subsequent decline rate....those that rise the slowest take the longest to decline. But, high velocity supernovae (ejecta velocity) called HV..... don't follow the same kinematics and possibly indicate a different progenitor. Only in the B band. HV and normal SNe Ia have similar rise times in the V band, according to the paper.
