was reading the Sun newspaper and came across these amazing pictures of a cave.

like it says in the link it even has its own jungle.

How do that many trees get the light they need to grow? Regardless, looks like a beautiful place. They need to send Nat Geo's super high-def cameras that'a'way, right'away.

The picture of the trees looks like it is at the entrance. Any more info on this cave online?

ETA: at the National Geo (there ya go Fazor :) )website: that shot does appear to be at the entrance:

I briefly saw some pictures of these caves, not in The Sun but in the free paper The Metro, while I was on the train. I wished I had more time to gaze at them but I'd reached my stop.

The ones in the link are much better quality, so thanks, elizabeth25. I can gaze at my leisure now!

I'm referring to the caption lower in the "article" that refers to the cave having it's on forest within it. I agree that the photo itself appears to be the entrance

My thinking too. If it's at the entrance, then it's not its own forest, it's part of a larger ecosystem.

Cool caves though.

Further on in the pics at Nat Geo they talk about "dolines", which are apparently places where the cave roof has collapsed and allowed sunlight to sustain a mini-jungle there. Still, not a completely isolated environment.

I read the National Geographic article on it a few months ago- what a fantastic place!

If you go to Google images and search 'The mountain river cave' you can see a lot more pictures. They are just beautiful.
