A simple enough poll. Who here has been married 25 years or longer. My wife and I will be married 29 years come August 18th.

(I know, I know...pretty soon the BA is going to tell me to stop these "silly" polls.)

I added the last option cause I didn't want to leave anyone out. :)

Carrying over from the other thread, 27 years on June 25th, which is this coming Friday.

Would you believe 40 years?

However, Mrs. Sammy and I were engaged to each other 3 times. We busted up prior to the nuptials twice, but made it the 3d time because (thanks to the U.S. Army), we didn't see each other during the four weeks between the decision to try it again and the wedding! :D

I've only racked up 18 years but with no problems thus far, I'd say 25 should be easy. She's a good kid.

My parents on well on the way to anniversary # 56 and absolutely no signs of slowing yet. They are just awe-inspiring. :D

For their 50th anniversary, I put together a collection of significant world events that transpired during their time together - our world has changed so much during the time of their relationship!

Just celebrated 14 years. \:D/

I noticed an interesting thing when we were first married. People would ask how long you've been married. You'd go "2 months" and get "2 months how sweet". As time wore on the response became milder: "a year, that's nice". By about 10 years, no one really cares. Then past about 25 years, the responses get better again: "37 years how sweet". Go figure. :-?

Two years, four months, 20 days. :)

My parents were married for almost 35 years when my father passed away.

Man, sorry to hear that, kucharek...hope everything works out for you...and I know how "tough" it can be for the children of divorced parents...I'm one of them.

Married 26 years this August. We were "together" for about 9 years before we got married (high-school and college sweethearts).

My parents will celebrate 53 years this August, too. For their 50th all of us got together and did a Disney cruise. Imagine 35 more just like me on a ship... ;)

heh heh...

Been married 3 years, 5 months and a few days. :P It's been fun. Had some hard times with layoffs (notice the plural. stinkin' government  but that's a whole other thread...) and unemployment and all. Learned a lot. Oh, people always think I'm crazy when I tell them I'm only 22, so I was 19 when I got married, just barely too. I don't regret it at all.

See, I'm 19 now and while I feel like I'm mature enough to get married (been with a girl for almost 2 years now, she's 18 ), I don't think it's even close to time yet, especially since I'm moving up north for school and she'll be here in Florida for at least a year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works out in the end though.

Cool poll R.A.F.! 8)
From what I see so far we're not quite "freaks of nature" and that's encouraging!

For all you young people...remember the old saying, "marry in haste, repent at your leisure". It's far better to wait until you're certain that the relationship can stand the test of time.

If my father had lived just a few more weeks, my parents would have been married 43 years.

My father's parents were married about 6 years, divorced in the 1920's if you can believe that. My grandfather had a big gambling problem. Second husband was 44 years.

My mother's parents were married about 44 years, until my grandmother's death.

My neighbor has been married 55 years, probably would be 60 years, but WWII got in the way.

Me: 7 years and a few weeks. Don't know if I'll do it again.

Yes. I have three kids and technically have custody of all three. I reality they spend just as much time with their mother as they do me. I have a very good relationship with my ex-wife. In many ways better than then when we were married.

30 years for me and Hubby, and my parents just celebrated their 50th in April.

And my daughter, age 20, is embarking upon the second year of her engagement to a guy she's been dating since they were both 15.
