Who's your favorites.

For me the 1980s and early 90s was the golden age of comics and graphic novels.

Some of my favorite artists and writers:

John J. Muth

Chris Clarmont

John Bolton

Kent Williams

Bob Burden with the Flaming Carrot

Cerebus the Aardvark by Dave Sim

and

Art Spiegelman's Maus are just a few

I was hooked on X-Men by Claremont and Anderson. God Loves, Man Kills was excellent. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men:_God_Loves,_Man_Kills)

First Comics styling of Dynamo Joe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamo_Joe)was pretty awesome too.

Writers: Neil Gaiman (Sandman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sandman_(Vertigo)) and lots of others), Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmetropolitan) and lots of others), Garth Ennis (Preacher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preacher_(comics)), The Boys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boys_(comics)) and lots of others).
Artists: All who worked with those three, with special mention to Michael Zulli(Sandman, Hob's Leviathan) and Shea Anton Pensa(Sandman, Cerements)

Interesting trivia, when googling for the four titles each link I used was the first link that came up. Even the fairly generic terms of them are apparently referenced most as these gentlemens' works.

Marvels Epic Illustrated was my introduction to a lot of great artists and writers in the 1980s.

If we include cover artists, let me name-drop Luis Royo and Michael Whelan (make that, especially Michael Whelan).

Also, Carla Speed McNeil.

Royo's work kind of reminds me of Alberto Vargas' pin-ups but for fantasy.

I just blew $62 on a signed limited edition of Flaming Carrot Collected Volume #1, I'm still not sure if it was a moment of irrationality or I actually thought it was worth it.

Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, Gene Colan, Steve Ditko, Carmine Infantino. And Will Eisner, of course.

Pass the Metamucil.
