If I thought there was a realistic chance of the Sun exploding, the beach would be the last place I'd be! The sunburn from the explosion would likely not kill you outright, but it would be enough to make your death painful and long.

Being in an air-conditioned room, however... you get to wait and watch for a half an hour or so before the shockwave hits the Earth. Then you wouldn't feel much at all. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Depending on which side of the planet you're on when the shockwave hits, you just may have a few more minutes to enjoy life before the wave overtakes you.

All of this reminds me of a good story.. 'Inconstant Moon' by Larry Niven /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Ah! Good one! Also, "Flare time" (was that the title? Earthlike planet orbiting a red dwarf, tidally locked; the response of the biosphere to the frequent giant flares...that one)

I saw Inconstant Moon on The Outer Limits.

What might be fun would be to float a balloon replica of the moon on a dark, moonless night. Put a light inside it and float it high enough to make it look like a full moon. Give it time to get attention, then burst it or slowly pull it down.

Well, that might be kind of mean. Never mind.
