http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhElE3JILAE Former Canadian Minister of Defense, Paul Hellyer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Hellyer The man brings up some good points about the environment, but then there's that "contact" portion...My question is: can this be taken as proof for a government UFO cover-up? I cannot find any proof to back what he says, but maybe someone on this forum will be able to give me some insight...

also, I wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this, but it seems pretty ATM to me.

The ATM forum is very much for you to propose and defend some non-mainstream science (within our bounds). To discuss something, especially with this secret/cover-up aspect, the CT forum is better.

He's been previously discussed here:

I don't see any.

How about: His statements are ridiculous ("intergalactic war," anyone?) so I don't see much reason to take him seriously.

I listened to the first few minutes of the video, and didn't feel inclined to continue. What I heard was a heap of assertion and no supporting evidence. As I didn't hear what he said later on, I don't know whether that changed.

Does he ever talk about what he's seen, or what others claim to have seen? If multiple governments have alien technology in store, then I'd suggest there's good odds Canada would be one such government. As Defence Minister he presumably would have seen what Canada had in store...

Funny how they turned a single citizen into the whole of Canada.

I think that the fact the person who was Minister of National Defence of one of the U.S.'s closest allies during the hight of the Cold War (also the hight of the UFO hysteria) does NOT have any personal knowledge of such a cover-up is evidence that it does not exist.

I got as far as the voice breaking the glass.
If he thinks the sound waves "change the structure", then I doubt he has enough scientific knowledge to equate UFO sightings with other terrestrial explainations.

To be fair, the structure of a glass shattered by soundwaves does change, from glass-shaped into little bits.

But Hellyer gives us no evidence whatsoever, just hearsay. He has no first-hand knowledge of UFOs or the involvement of the US in anything related to them. If (as Halcyon Dayz points out) he has no first hand knowledge of such involvement, then it seems very likely that such involvement doesn't exist. Rather than being good evidence of a cover-up, it looks like the exact opposite to me.
