I captured this image this morning Nov. 4, 2011 of a meteor streaking by the stars Alcyone and Merope in M 45 The Pleiades.

10 minute exposure, 150mm Refractor

Hi. The photo is great and good fortune you catch a meteor. Are you sure it is indeed a meteor and not a satellite?

No I'm not entirely sure. I based the assumption of a meteor on the fact that it did not streak across the complete images as a satellite would have.

It's a satellite. It didn't "streak" across the entire image because you started or ended the exposure while it was mid field. Meteor trails look very different and are very rare. In 50 years of imaging I caught two. I catch a satellite about 30% of the time when imaging in areas of the sky they are common. M45 is such an area. My record is 14 in one 10 minute frame!
