Okay, perhaps it's just because I've been watching Antares lately, but has anyone noticed that Alpha Centauri seems to be redder than usual? Okay I only have 12x50 Binocs so I can't geta really good look, just I'm sure it used to be whiter. Could this be a result of the positions of A and B or Proxima?

Any Southerners here what to take a shot?

Proxima is way far away and way dim, so whatever it is, it can't be that...the star is just a telescopic speck a degree or so away from Alpha.

lol. Ahhhhh, so that is why we can't find PX. It's over around Alpha Centuari. :)

Actually I know that Alpha Centauri B is a K1 star and so is orangish, so I'm not totally surprised, just wondered if others have noticed that it does seem much redder than I recall.

Do you live near a city? could it be atmosphere effect like haze, some smog in air, or maybe it was near horizon or maybe it is more redish :-?
