The prelim round is winding down in this annual hockey tournament. This year's hosts Edmonton and Calgary.

Pool A, tonight Sweden and Russia will be playing for top spot in the group and a bye to the semi-finals. Loser will finish second, Switzerland and Slovakia will play for third place in the group. Sweden, on paper, probably the best team in the tournament, they had a great pre-tournament game against Canada. Russia, as always inconsistent early on. Switzerland, as in previous years, always capable of stealing a win. Latvia rounds out the group with 0 wins.

Pool B, big surprise, USA will not be moving into the medal round with losses to Finland and Czech Republic. Best they will finish is 7th. Canada has clinched the group and a spot in the semi-finals. Canada vs. US tonight should still be a good game. Finland vs. Czech Rep. will decide second and third place in the group. Denmark rounds out this group with 0 wins.

The quarter-final round will be the second place team from each group, playing the third place team from the other group.

Go Canada! I hope they keep their streak alive, they have made the final of the tournament every year since '02, 5 Gold and 5 Silver.

Next year's tournament will be held in Ufa, Russia.

What I don't get is what Denmark is doing there at all.
