So I don't derail the test tube burger thread, I thought I'd continue the discussion that started with This Post on that thread (http://www.bautforum.com/showthread.php/128731-Get-ready-ro-eat-your-Test-Tube-Cheeseburger?p=1992175#post1992175).

A new story popped up about pink slime in school food.
'Pink slime' meat may be on student lunch menus (http://vitals.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/08/10611274-pink-slime-meat-may-be-on-student-lunch-menus)
OOOH those pooor little children.

"We should step back and say, 'Why would we feed this to our kid?" said Siegal.
I don't mind that question, but it needs to be accompanied by "WHY NOT?".

There's never been any link to any problems, and it's only now that people hear about it that they are "grossed out".

I thought this was interesting:

The waste meat accounts for 70 percent of all ground beef consumed in the U.S.
I never realized it was that high. But then again, considering ground beef is a way to eat lesser cuts of meat, I guess it makes sense.
And; if it's being eaten, then why is it called "waste"?
I consider waste to be something leftover that can't be used for the original purpose. Or something that has been re-purposed.
