It’s nearly time for my monthly New Moon spotting challenge. Some North Americans may set personal records on April 21st when the Moon shortly after sunset will appear barely further from the Sun than the 7° Danjon limit.

Here’s my photo taken this evening from Arlington Heights, Illinois of the “Old Moon in the New Moon’s Arms” aged 42:13 hrs while appearing above Jupiter on 2012 APR 22 at 20:31 CDT.
