Hey there,
I just downloaded the latest sky-map. It's been a while since I last went telescoping, but hopefully I'm gonna get a chance to go with this gurl in a few days  :P
Anywho, I was looking at September's sky map (http://www.skywatchertelescope.net/EducationTBUM.html), and I cannot find any planets on the map. What happened to Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus?! Are no planets visible in the northern hempishere for the entire month of september?! I doubt it, but maybe the latter is true...

Saturn and Venus are visible in the early morning. The same might be the case for Mars and Jupiter.

What about Uranus and Neptune then. Pluto if you got a big scope?
Just remember the moon is still pretty bright....

I use hallo northern sky to get an observing list going rather than look at sky maps. It's free and easy to use.

(Working from memory - always a bad thing) -- I think Mars and Jupiter are too close to the sun (opposite side of sun) to see right now.

If all else fails, check out skyviewcafe (http://www.skyviewcafe.com)

That's right - Mars is about to enter conjunction, so there's going to be no communication with the rovers for a while.

Venus will catch up to Mars soon. Venus was close to Saturn a few days ago--it's set on a mini-tour of the solar system, you just have to get up early to watch.

I just changed the title of the Venus and Saturn in the morning thread to Venus and (planets) in the morning (http://www.badastronomy.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=15880).
