Candy just blew past the kilopi limit without so much as a "how-de-do." Does someone want to work out if she's the fastest to kilopi? Does someone want to work out how long it's going to take before she passes me? ;)

What's kilopi?

There used to be a poster here called kilopi.

He seemed a rather humourless fellow, though perhaps I just thought that because he ripped up one of my pet theories for me.

He vanished when I accused him of being Japanese-American.

Kilopi regenerated into milli360 (http://www.badastronomy.com/phpBB/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=3078) and then into A Thousand Pardons, (http://www.badastronomy.com/phpBB/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=4982), so he's still around (and has been known to evince a sense of humor on occasion).

It remains to be seen whether he has a limited number of regenerations, like Doctor Who (http://www.shillpages.com/dw/video/vid-3r.jpg).

I based my estimate off your current rates, which are...

Candy: 3643 posts at 17.18/day
ToSeek: 10281 posts at 9.41/day

This means Candy is catching up at a rate of 7.77 posts per day, thus she'll catch up in...

(10281-3643)/7.77 = 854 days

Of course the problem is this: the estimate assumes the average rates are indicative of future trends, which is probably not true. I didn't make the estimate because I really believe it, I just did it for fun.

The board is a lot more active than it used to be (for one thing, this forum didn't exist a couple of years ago); therefore, older members will tend to have a lower post-per-day average than newer ones.

Yesterday, I looked at how long it took for Candy and me to do our last 500 posts. My n-500 was on September 28; Candy's was on September 24. So she's falling behind, not catching up. :P

I'm aware of that, which is why I made my qualifiying statement about future trends. I just couldn't figure out how to determine a posting rate for ToSeek over a period comparable to Candy's.

Ah, good idea; I didn't think of doing that. So ToSeek has made 500 posts over the last 21 days, a rate of 23.8/day, versus Candy's 500 over 25 days, 20.0/day. It sounds to me like you both could use another hobby.
