Hi there,

I'm a new user so please forgive me if this has already been posted or isn't anything abnormal. This image shows some markings which looks like they're possibly rover markings? And what are the white dots?

Thanks,

LBG :)

edit - after some closer inspection, I'm pretty sure they are rover markings. I can see some figure-of-eight-like pattens :D

Welcome to CosmoQuest, LBG!

Perhaps this annotated image (http://cosmoquest.org/Moon_Mappers:_FAQ#I.27ve_found_lots_of_things_at_t he_Apollo_15_landing_site._What_are_they.3F) and the blog post (http://cosmoquest.org/blog/2012/01/images-youre-looking-at-now/) are of interest for you.

Sorry about that, it looks like a link didn't copy over. I'll get it fixed soon. In the mean time, here is the URL you can use to explore the Apollo 15 site (http://wms.lroc.asu.edu/lroc/view_lroc/LRO-L-LROC-2-EDR-V1.0/M175252641RE). The lander is in the lower third, left side. The image is flipped horizontally and is a bit squished (they don't do geometric correction for that site), but it's the whole NAC image strip. This is also the highest resolution one we have -- each pixel is about 25 cm across.
