This is a paper I found the other day:
http://arxiv.org/abs/0709.4417
The title says it all: "The New Horizons Pluto Kuiper belt Mission: An Overview with Historical Context". I hope someone find it useful/interesting.

I told the team about the paper so that it should get added to the Resource Library section. :)

When the New Horizons mission was proposed for development it was in competition with another proposal for a probe to Europa.
I was disappointed at the time that NH got the nod over the Europa probe but I suppose wiser heads then me made that decision.
Can someone remind me why NH was selected over Europa?

I don't know the answer to this question, but this is a pretty inactive thread. You might want to post this question as a new thread in Space Exploration, or take a look at the Space Explorations New Horizon thread (http://cosmoquest.org/forum/showthread.php/37223-Progress-of-New-Horizons-in-the-Solar-system).
