Saw this apod, and started looking for the mark feature "boulder field" buttons :)

The boulders are pretty impressive! Thank you for sharing this APOD!

Start counting ;).

But seriously, identifying, counting, and measuring boulders and rocks may seem to be even more boring than craters, but you can actually do a lot of science with them. There's a guy who has modeled the size-distribution of rocks on Mars and has predicted what they should be at landing sites -- this matters when you want to land a rover and are worried about your chances of landing on top of a boulder! Measuring rocks ejected from a crater can tell you about the strength of the curst that the crater formed in and how it fractured.

Getting that data, though, takes a lot of counting ...

Any plans on that? ;)

Not at the moment. Neither Irene nor I are interested in the science that would require a large catalog of boulders for the time being.
