I 'M near Ft. Lauderdale so the moon rise is actually about 38 minutes later per night, but Centaur once posted that it is only 22 min. later in Chicagoland; that is amazingly short

This year for Chicagoland the difference will be 27 minutes. Much depends upon the positions of the orbital nodes in their 18.6-year cycle and the positions of perigee and apogee in their 8.85-year cycle.

Here’s my photo of the Harvest Moon taken from Arlington Heights, Illinois on 2012 SEP 29 at 18:37 CDT, which was right at sunset and 30 minutes after moonrise. Circling hawks are included in the scene.
