Hi friends,
I recently had the great pleasure of joining a group of university physics students on an observing trip
to the IAC observatory on Mt Teide, Tenerife. I'm writing up a few articles about the trip on my personal blog
and thought you might enjoy the read, and the photos I took during our time there.

Nice photos. I live just down the road from the observatory, as my coordinates will tell you. Their open days are interesting and well attended, but surprisingly, during daylight.

I've been super busy with a secret project and my poor blog has been suffering for it. I'm finally back on track so here is part 2 of my trip to Tenerife. Hope you enjoy

Here's part 3. I go through some of the actual astronomy I was able to do while we were on Tenerife, including taking my first milky way time lapse. Something I've always wanted to do.

Nice time lapse. This view of the milky way is available from Teide 90% of the year, the sky clarity is superb especially in winter. It's a 40 minute drive from where I live, and I don't do it often enough.

Hey everyone,
I've finally completed my account of the trip to Tenerife. Below are links to the last two parts. The final part has the videos we created for ucc featuring some interviews with dr Paul Callanan and the students.

Hope you enjoy!

@Perikles
Do you know any of the guys involved in astronomy on Lanzerote? Cesar Piret or Gustavo Muler. I just got back yesterday after a short holiday there, where I went to a lecture and a small star party afterwards. Had a great time with them.

Had a great time with them.I've only ever met one guy at a party from the astronomy world here in the Canaries. They seem to keep aloof from 'local' residents, not intentionally but by the nature of their work. That, or I'm the one totally isolated.
