It's tricky enough to study real supernovae ...let alone imposters. the authors argue for sn 2009ip being a mergerburst...the coalescence of two giant stars after a couple of recent very close pariastrons with attendant outbursts there also ....similar to the great eruption of Eta Carinae in the 1800's. With predictions no less. 5 to be seen post merger effects,...a first rate theory should predict. Kudos for the Chutzpah guys, kudos. pete SEE:http://arxiv.org/abs/1211.5388:

Very neat. I will have to read this all the way through tomorrow because homework is calling my name.

PS - Somehow the colon was trapped in the link and site throws an error.

If someone would send me a link to the original thread, I could do so, but I wasn't completely sure which thread you two were referring to. Thanks,

And I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling...

This isn't some dodgy real-estate deal, so I doubt those kids, their "Mystery Machine" and their Great Dane can take the credit. ;)
