View Full Version : Metonic Cycle Accuracy

The Metonic cycle inserts seven intercalatory months into Lunar calendars every nineteen years. Following this pattern, our various lunar calendars keep pace nicely with the Sun.

However, I recall (I think) that there might be a very gradual inaccuracy. Evidently an extra month might need to be added once every ??? years. Can someone tell me how many years that era is? When does an extra-extra month need to be inserted?

Ive managed to figure that a lunar month would have to be deleted about every 6000 years. The Metonic cycle is more accurate than I thought. :scope:
