Why do we explore???...As you have answered plus of course the realisation that to cease exploration [no matter at what costs or dangers] is to stagnate.
It would be as close as we could get as a race to being dead if we did not explore and go where no man has gone before....
Yep, I'm another self confessed space and wonder junkie!

Why are We Driven to Explore?
We used to do it on foot , but it's so much easier being driven.
I blame the mothers.
